The Thinking Horseman

Experience. Insight. Better decisions.

Practical horse breeding, training, management and showing resources, shaped by more than 50 years in the real world of horses.

About Jeanette

The art and science of better horsemanship.

Horses have a marvellous way of exposing theory that does not work.

My work is for people who want useful answers, sound reasoning and standards that hold up in the paddock, the breeding barn and the show ring. I share what experience has taught me, what research adds to that experience, and what responsible horse people need to think about next.

No pie in the sky mentality. Just practical information you can use.

What matters
Thinking first

Better decisions begin with understanding why, not simply copying what has always been done.

Responsibility

Breeding, training and management choices carry consequences. Good horsemen own them.

Practical excellence

Useful knowledge should improve what happens with the horse. Otherwise it is merely interesting.
